These puzzles are designed for elite solvers who are fluent in complex logic, comfortable with deep inference, and ready to apply extended chains and region level reasoning. Expect long deduction paths and positions that require multiple technique families used in sequence.

Who This Level Is For

Choose Extreme if you routinely complete Expert and Master puzzles, maintain immaculate notes, and recognize advanced structures across the whole grid. You should be confident mapping chains, verifying contradictions, and combining ideas without guesswork.

Techniques You Will Apply

Extreme puzzles have a Sudoku Explainer rating of 7.7 or more, up to 9.0 for our hardest. Expect to use:

Cell and unit forcing chains: the hardest step in 158 of our 200 extreme puzzles (79%). Follow every candidate of one cell, or every place for one digit in a house, and keep what all of them agree on.
Nishio: 30 puzzles (15%). A Nishio assumes one candidate is true and follows what it forces: if that leads to a contradiction, the candidate is ruled out.
Dynamic forcing chains: 12 puzzles (6%). Each branch also uses what it has already placed or ruled out, so the chains run longer.
Core foundations: You will still rely on basics such as Last Possible Number and Last Remaining Cell to convert deductions into final placements
