Print Expert Sudoku
Printable sheet
One puzzle on one page. If you get stuck, the code on the sheet opens it as a game, with hints.
The PDF opens in a new tab.
Pick a level, press Print Sudoku, and you get a PDF with one puzzle on an A4 page. The levels differ in two things: how many digits the grid starts with, and what kind of logic you need to finish it. The second matters more. Our medium and hard puzzles start with the same number of clues, and they are nothing alike to solve.
The grid sits in the top half of the page, about 8.6 cm (3.4 in) across, so each cell is a little under 1 cm. Beside it you get the level, the number of givens, and a QR code that opens the same puzzle online. Three boxes on the print screen add more:
The PDF is A4. On US Letter, choose "fit to page" in the print dialog and the grid shrinks very slightly.
Paper lets you write candidates the way you like, cross things out, and leave a puzzle half done on the table for tomorrow. It also works where a screen does not: a classroom, a flight, a waiting room. If you print one puzzle for several people, everyone has the same grid, which makes comparing answers easy.
The same levels are free to play in the browser, with notes and hints: Easy, Medium and Hard, plus a new Daily Sudoku every day. To learn the techniques each level asks for, start with the technique guides.
